Our Comfort & Care Pastor, Rev. Lynne Burkhead, has been in the AME church her entire life and a member of Turner Chapel AMEC for over 25 years. Prior to being called into ordained ministry, Rev. Lynne served in various capacities at Turner Chapel. She is a 3rd generation AME minister; having met the requirements outlined by the AME Church, she received her Elder’s orders in May 2006.
In March 2008, The Ministry of Comfort & Care was established with Rev. Lynne providing leadership. The Ministry of Comfort & Care was designed to meet the emergent needs of the congregation by creating a line of contact for persons enduring life’s challenges as it relates to grief and illness. Comfort & Care is considered the "ministry of ministry."
As the Comfort & Care Pastor, Rev. Lynne is available to meet members at doctor appointments, hospitals prior to medical procedures for prayer and comforts those persons preparing for homegoing celebrations of a loved one. Rev. Lynne assists with planning funeral services by accompanying families to the funeral home and offering support during the initial meeting and ensuring they receive the best care in their critical time of need. She is responsible for coordinating all non-member homegoing services held at Turner Chapel.
Rev. Lynne is very passionate about this ministry and prides herself on her availability to the body of Christ here at Turner Chapel. Her strong belief in the power of prayer enables her to attest to the grace, peace, and hope God extends toward us. Her favorite scripture is II Corinthians 12:9 & 10. She is the proud mother of two children and has three grandchildren. Rev. Lynne enjoys spending time with family, dining at her favorite restaurants, traveling and shopping at eccentric boutiques with an eclectic flare.
